MB Daily News Update: ‘Extreme rapid intensification’ turns ‘Neneng’ into a typhoon

It was a case of extreme rapid intensification as ‘Neneng’ intensified from just being a tropical depression to typhoon in just a few hours, rampaging through Cagayan with heavy rains that left many roads impassable and other infrastructure damaged due to the floods it spawned.

Only a few weeks ago, tropical depression Karding underwent “explosive intensification” to become a super typhoon almost overnight.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos has assured the provinces hit by “Neneng” that help was already on its way.

Meanwhile, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) disclosed that its aggressive push for housing projects is expected to create 1.7 million jobs every year.

These are among the top stories in the Manila Bulletin’s roster of reports this Sunday afternoon, Oct. 16, 2022.
