2 DPWH road projects to make travel faster to Bataan tourist sites

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed two road projects in Bataan that will make travel faster and more comfortable to some of the tourist sites in the town of Orani.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino said the Mulawin-tala Road and Pagasa-Tala Road were implemented to support tourism development in the province.

He noted that the newly-improved Mulawin-Tala Road in Barangay Tala involves the concreting of a 350-linear-meter section of road and 2.66-linear-kilometer road shoulder worth P14.6 million was completed by the DPWH Bataan First District Engineering Office (DEO).

Tolentino noted that the said road improvement project will facilitate the safe access to the green and lush mountains of Tala where complete emergency lanes were built to allow vehicles to park in cases of emergencies or breakdowns.

He added that the P96.4-million worth slope protection project along Pagasa-Tala Road leading to Mt. Natib is underway and is now at 70 percent complete as of Sept. 2022.

The project entails the construction of 3.27-square-kilometer rockfall netting including hydroseeding along the landslide-prone segment of the road, with the netting anchored in geotextile and type I erosion control mat to control soil losses.

Once completed, the mountainous section of the road will be protected from falling rocks and soil collapses. (Chito A. Chavez)
