Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos views his performance as senior deputy majority leader as one of his major accomplishments so far in the House of Representatives.

Broadcaster Anthony Taberna asked Marcos about the topic of major accomplishments in an interview posted recently on the former's YouTube channel.

Marcos first mentioned the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration Law, which he said he was "happy" about. It was his first national bill to become a law.

"And of course ang aking responsibilidad bilang (my responsibilities as) senior deputy majority leader," the Ilocano said.

"Sa tingin ko naman, maraming nagtaka nung nagsimula nung bakit ako ginawang SDML. Lalo na of course sa mga cong siguro, madaming nagtataka din (I think a lot of people wondered at first why I was made SDML. Especially the congressmen, a lot of them are wondering)," he noted.

"But I think so far naman, I don't want to be the one to judge, pero I've been able to prove myself naman na OK naman dyan sa position na yun (that I am OK in that position)," the presidential son said.

Asked by Taberna on how he has handled the criticism of his being given a lofty position, the neophyte solon said: "Lagi ko naman sinasabi sir na (I always say sir that) the ultimate equalizer is performance. Basta mag-perform ka (Just perform), the rest will follow."

"So yan naman ang ginawa ko. Hindi pa ako nag-absent. Maaga ako pumapasok, late ako umaalis. Alam naman yan ng mga congressman na talagang matrabaho ako (So that's what I've been doing. I've never been absent. I go to work early and leave late. The congressmen know that I'm diligent)," Marcos said.

Later in the interview, Marcos stressed that he wouldn't personally say that he has "proven himself" as the senior deputy majority leader. "It's not for me to say, that's for others to say," he underscored.

"But what I will say is I think naman na I've tried my best, na ginawa ko talaga lahat para makita naman ng aking mga colleagues na hindi lang basta binigay sa akin ang posisyon at kung anu-ano lang, dahil anak ng Pangulo pwede akong maging, I guess lazy (that I'm doing everything to show my colleagues that my position wasn't simply given to me because I'm son of the President, and that I can be, I guess lazy). So I'm really trying my best," he said.

Marcos, 28, is the eldest son of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

As senior deputy majority leader, the younger Marcos is the right-hand man of the majority leader, who in this case is Zamboanga City 2nd district Rep. Mannix Dalipe. He is also part of the powerful Committee on Rules in the House of Representatives.
