Mayor Tiangco condemns gun attack that left 2 dead, 2 wounded

Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco denounced on Saturday, Oct. 15, the shooting incident that left two people dead and two others wounded in Barangay Tangos South, Navotas City on Friday, Oct. 14.

In a statement, Mayor Tianco said, "I condemn in the strongest possible terms the killing and wounding of our fellow Navoteños at Brgy. Tangos South."

"We at the city government extend our deep condolences to the family of the victims and vow to give them the assistance they need," the mayor added.

The Navotas City police identified the fatalities as Jhomarie Flores Santillan, 30, and his nine-year-old son.

Wounded were Cerina dela Cruz Cahanding, 28, and Gerardo Garcia Vero Jojet, 49.

The victims are residents of Kalsada St. Brgy. Tangos South.

Based on the initial investigation, two unidentified men suddenly appeared in front of Santillan's house and fired shots at the door, hitting the victims several times.

Santillan and his nine-year-old son were rushed to Navotas City Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Santillan's live-in partner, Cahanding, sustained injuries on her hands and feet while their neighbor, Jojet, suffered a bullet wound in the abdomen.

The suspects' identity and the motive behind the shooting remain unknown, police said.

The mayor also called on the city police to provide immediate action to resolve the case.

"I urge the Navotas City Police to hasten the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice at the soonest," Tiangco said.
