Marcos shared this in a Facebook post on Friday evening, October 14.

In his post, the President shared a photo of him meeting Converge CEO Dennis Uy and Korean executives CEO Ku Hyeon-mo and President Yun Kyoung-lim of KT Corporation in Malacañang.

Marcos said they discussed the country's internet services and how a public-private partnership (PPP) could help improve them.

"Tayo ay nakipagpulong sa CEO ng Converge ICT at opisyal ng KT Corporation ng South Korea upang maisaayos ang internet services sa bansa (We met with the CEO of Converge and KT Corporation officials to fix our country's internet services)," he said.

"Sa pamamagitan ng Public-Private Partnerships gaya nito, ang kanilang magagandang kasanayan ay maaari nating gamitin sa mga programang ating gagawin (Through a PPP like this, we can use their experience to help in our programs)," he added.

KT Corporation is the second-largest wireless carrier in South Korea, with almost 16.5 million subscribers as of 2017.

According to the Office of the Press Secretary, KT Corporation has been working with the governments of different countries to establish information and communications infrastructures there.

In May this year, South Korea expressed support to fund projects that will usher in the Philippines' digital transformation through infrastructure, digital economy, and developing e-skilled individuals.

"Korea will continue to partner with the Philippines in promoting digital transformation in every sector, including e-skill education and training, IT (information technology) infrastructure, and digital economy," the South Korean Embassy wrote in a Facebook post.

The Embassy said South Korea is currently conducting a $550,000 feasibility study for expanding the National Broadband Infrastructure in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, MIMAROPA, and Bicol.

South Korea will likewise support financing a $130-million project to install broadband lines and telecommunication equipment in the said areas.

"This broadband expansion project will increase Filipino households' wired internet connection to schools, hospitals, and local government agencies," the Embassy wrote.
