ILOILO CITY – The island-province of Guimaras has temporarily banned the entry of live pigs and pork products amid a suspected case of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Iloilo province.

Gov. JC Rahman Nava issued Executive Order No. 2022-082 imposing the prohibition on the entry of live pigs, pork, pork products, and by-products whether fresh, frozen, cooked, or processed into the island.
The EO ordered strict veterinary quarantine procedures on the movement of swine, pork, pork products, and by-products within the five towns of Guimaras.
Nava also banned the entry of livestock poultry carriers and hog vans.
He mandated the Guimaras Police Provincial Office, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Provincial Law Enforcement and Public Safety Task Force, the Provincial Veterinary Office, and the local government units to strengthen border control measures for the province to remain ASF-free.
