Police saved a drug suspect who got wounded and fell into a river during a shootout with cops in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion, Norzagaray, Bulacan on Friday evening, Oct.14.
Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan Police officer-in-charge, identified the wounded drug suspect as Jenny Tamayo alias “Lagoy”, 44. His cohort, Raymart Carpio, 24, was arrested.
Police investigators said that during the buy-bust operation, Tamayo pulled out his firearm and fired shots at the police officers after sensing he was dealing with undercover cops.
The operatives returned fire, hitting Tamayo who later fell into a nearby river.
Tamayo was immediately rescued by the police and taken to the hospital for medical attention, while his accomplice, Carpio, was placed under arrest.
Seized during the operation were seven sachets of suspected shabu weighing 5.5 grams with a street value of P37,400, the buy-bust money, a 9mm ARMSCOR pistol, a bullet shell, a magazine for 9mm gun, and a bladed weapon, police said.
