PANGASINAN – The body of a grade 8 male student who was reported missing in a river in Mangaldan was recovered by a policeman on Friday, Oct. 14, after hours of search and rescue operations.

According to police reports, the victim (name withheld) went to the Angalacan river to take a bath.
The victim, aged 15 and resident of Brgy. Salay in Mangaldan town, went missing, prompting the Mangaldan Police Station to dispatch a rescuer.
Corporal Andrew V. Velasco of the Mangaldan Police Station went down to the river to search for the missing student.
Corporal Velasco found the victim under the water and immediately brought to the river bank to apply Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
The brave policeman exerted efforts hoping to save the life of the teenager but unfortunately he was declared dead on arrival at the Mangaldan Infirmary and Urgent Care Unit.
