Binangonan fiesta in honor of Saint Ursula to push through - Mayor Ynares


The annual town fiesta in honor of Saint Ursula, the patroness of Binangonan, Rizal, will push through this month, according to the municipal government.

The office of Mayor Cesar Ynares bared that preparations are ongoing for the upcoming town fiesta week that will start on Oct. 21.

He said village officials, police, Philippine Coast Guard personnel, volunteer groups, and other stakeholders including church authorities have been holding a series of meetings to ensure the safe conduct of the annual festivities.

Early this week, the local government initiated talks for the planning of the scheduled “pagoda” or fluvial parade in Laguna Lake. This year’s pagoda will happen on Oct. 21.

Other scheduled events during the fiesta week are the Pista Ng Pelikulang Binangonan, a film making competition; and All Binangonan Artists Association Dance Competition on Oct. 21; Battle of the Bands contest and motor show on Oct. 22 at Calumpang Road, Binangonan.

There will be free concert of groups and solo artist such as Join the Club, Janna Garcia and other performing artists during the week.

Under the Ynares administration, local artists are given the opportunity to highlight their talents and skills in music, visual arts, photography, and performing arts including film making.

The municipal government said health protocols will still be strictly implemented during the celebrations to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
