'Unproductive' to bash Sandro over 'peso is not weak' remark--Salceda
"The peso is not weak because the peso is weak. The peso is weak because the dollar is strong."

This is the quote from Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos that's currently being parodied and clowned by netizens. Take a quick scroll down on your social media feed and you're bound to see a handful of "peso is not weak" memes.
And yet, Marcos's House colleague, veteran solon Albay 2nd district Rep. Joey Salceda said that the Ilocano's remark actually made sense.
Asked to comment on the bashing being received by the senior deputy majority leader over his statement, Salceda said: "The premises he made were sound so, bashing looks unproductive in this context."
"He’s right about the nature of the problem. In any case, let’s all just get to work on the solutions," added Salceda, who is an economist and chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means.
