ALLACAPAN, Cagayan – This town declared a state of calamity on Thursday, Oct. 13, due to massive damage to agriculture and infrastructure from widespread flooding caused by tropical depression “Maymay.”

The declaration was approved by the Sangguniang Bayan under Resolution No. 3, Series of 2022.
Twenty-two barangays have been affected by floods, displacing 1,025 families or 3,849 persons.
Affected barangays were Binubongan, Bulo, Burot, Cataratan, Capanickian Norte, Capanickian Sur, Centro East, Centro West, Daan Ili, Dagupan, Iringan, Labben, Maluyo, Mapurao, Matucay, Nagattatan, Tamboli, Silagan, Capagaran, Capalutan, and Pacac.
Forty-four families or 147 individuals evacuated to different barangay halls.
An irrigation canal of the National Irrigation Administration-East Apayao Abulug (NIA-EAA) here was damaged due to flood.
The NIA-EAA said that the repair of the damaged irrigation canal will start as soon the weather improves.
