Police arrest five suspects for human trafficking, rescue eight victims


KAMPO HEN. PACIANO RIZAL, Sta. Cruz, Laguna – Authorities arrested five persons who allegedly violated the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 (Human Trafficking) and rescued eight female entertainers at around 4 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, in Biñan City.

Police Colonel Randy Glenn Silvio, director of Laguna Provincial Police Office, identified the suspects as Angelo Ermita, 48, a resident of Biñan City; Alfonso Tanjuaquio, also of Biñan City; Mark Randy Gondranios, bar employee, and resident of Tondo, Manila; Leian Bautista, bar keeper, and resident of Sta. Rosa City; and Jerick Quijano, waiter, and resident of Muntinlupa City.

Ermita is said to be the consultant of the Lady of the Night Henry 888 Restobar in Barangay Canlalay raided by the joint personnel of Biñan City police station, Provincial Special Operation Unit, and Binan City Social Welfare and Development.

Eight entertainers were rescued during inspection of the restobar.

The suspects were turned over to the WCPD Section for proper disposition and taken to the Biñan Hospital for physical examination.

The suspects are currently in the custody of the Binan City Police Station while the documents are now being prepared to file the corresponding case against them.

Bar owner Milagros Ausan, a resident of Biñan City, is also facing the same charges.

Silvio said ‘as a matter of appreciation for our women, we will not allow human traffickers to take advantage of the rights of our women.’
