The government's lead communications arm stated this as it joined the observance of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction on Thursday, Oct. 13.

"We at OPS and other agencies are committed to delivering factual and prompt information about calamities to inform, educate, and warn the Filipino people in times of emergency and disaster," it said in a statement.

This year's observance of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction has a theme of increasing the availability of access to early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessment.

The OPS is the premier arm of the Executive Branch in engaging and involving the citizenry and the mass media in order to enrich the quality of public discourse on all matters of governance and build a national consensus thereon.

IIt is currently under the supervision of OPS officer-in-charge (OIC) Undersecretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil, who was tapped by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to help in the operations of the said office after its former secretary, lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles, resigned.
