OWWA, Muntinlupa City sign agreement for creation of OFW Help Desk

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the local government of Muntinlupa City signed on Thursday, Oct. 13, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the creation of an "OFW Help Desk" in a bid to facilitate social services to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

The MoA signing was spearheaded by OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio and Muntinlupa City Mayor Rozzano Rufino "Ruffy" Biazon.

The creation of the OFW Help Desk is one of the flagship programs of OWWA to bring closer services to the concerns of Filipino migrant workers and their families.

Ignacio said the help desk would serve as the frontline in promoting the rights and welfare of OFWs.

The Muntinlupa OFW Help Desk was first established during the leadership of then-Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, who signed a memorandum of agreement with labor executives in 2020 to launch the anti-illegal recruitment campaign.

It aims to reintegrate overseas employment programs in the city and ensure the protection of OFWs and their families.
