Marcos gains commitments from several countries during Palace meetings
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has gained a string of commitments from several countries as he met with ambassadors from Turkey, Spain, Norway, Denmark, and Qatar.

Marcos met with the diplomats in a series of meetings on Thursday, Oct. 13, in Malacañang.
Ambassador Niyazi Evren Akyol of the Republic of Türkiye and Ambassador Miguel Utray Delgado of the Kingdom of Spain presented their credentials before the President.
During the event, Akyol expressed Turkey's commitment in supporting the Philippines’ peace process agenda in Mindanao while Delgado conveyed Spain’s continued cooperation with the country in various areas of mutual interest such as international security, health, food security, among others.
Marcos also accepted the letters of credence of Ambassador Christian Halaas Lyster of the Kingdom of Norway and Ambassador Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin of the Kingdom of Denmark.
According to Malacañang, Lyster formerly served as the Deputy Director General for Security of Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has also been stationed in various countries including Denmark and Malaysia.
Mellbin, on the other hand, served as the Danish envoy to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Permanent Representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Commissioner General for Denmark at Expo 2020 Dubai prior to his posting in Manila.
The Chief Executive also met with Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Ahmad AL-Malki, ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Philippines, in a farewell call.
During their meeting, the ambassador gifted Marcos a few items as Qatar is hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup — the 22nd edition of the competition and the first World Cup in the Middle East.
Over the years, the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Qatar have grown increasingly based on partnership in many areas of cooperation including trade, investment and tourism, among others.
Qatar hosts around 300,000 Filipinos residing or working in various development projects.
