Ilocos Norte cop shot dead, stuffed in trunk of car


DINGRAS, Ilocos Norte – A policeman was found dead with multiple bullet wounds in the compartment of his car in Barangay Cali, this town, on Thursday, Oct. 13.

The victim was identified as Staff Sgt. Jackson Raymundo, 36, married, resident of Barangay Puttao, Solsona, Ilocos Norte and assigned to this town.

Police received information at about 2:40 a.m. on Facebook Messenger from a woman, a resident of this town, informing them she is hiding in Barangay Guerrero here and that Raymundo, had been shot.

Patrolling operatives led by chief of police Major Julius Basallo located the woman and found Raymundo’s vehicle, a red Honda Civic with license plates ULF-505, in an irrigation canal in the middle of a rice field.

The car had multiple bullet holes in the wind shield and hood.

Police discovered Raymundo’s body stuffed in the compartment, half-naked and bathing in his own blood with bullet wounds.

He was taken to the Dingras District Hospital and transferred to the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac City, Ilocos Norte where he died.

The woman told police that the gunmen were wearing bonnets.

She is considered a person of interest because she reported the incident to the police and was the companion of the victim.

A dragnet operation is under way and the Ilocos Norte Provincial Forensic Unit is processing the crime scene.

Police are conducting an in-depth investigation to identify the suspect as well as the motive.

Love triangle is a possible motive, police added.
