Displaced Himamaylanons receive assistance from PH Red Cross
Himamaylanons that were displaced due to the armed conflict were assisted by the Philippine Red Cross as part of its strong commitment to providing hope to the most vulnerable.

PRC, through its PRC Negros Occidental - Bacolod City Chapter, provided humanitarian support to the displaced families of Brgy Carabalan, Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental, who sought refuge in evacuation centers after armed conflicts besieged the city on Oct. 6, 2022.
The incident affected 2, 741 individuals and reportedly caused five casualties.
"The province of Negros Occidental can be difficult to reach due to its terrain, but that did not stop the Red Cross staff and volunteers from giving IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) much-needed relief," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard J. Gordon said.
The PRC Negros Occidental - Bacolod City Chapter delivered hot meals to 228 individuals, vitamins to more than 150 families, and face masks to 765 individuals.
Health assistance was also given to affected families. PRC, under the Psychological Support Program (PSP), immediately provided Psychological First Aid (PFA) and Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) to three evacuation centers to ensure that affected people, especially children, will receive the necessary assistance to cope with the situation. Over 178 children participated in child-friendly activities (play therapy).
Aside from PFA and CFS, affected individuals also participated in hygiene and handwashing sessions to guarantee the practice of proper hygiene, especially during an emergency where cleanliness is often overlooked.
Aside from food, non-food, and health assistance, PRC Negros Occidental - Bacolod City Chapter also assisted in the preparation of an additional evacuation center in the area.
