Stray Kids tops Billboard Hot Trending Songs for the first time, Hanteo weekly album chart

K-pop boy band Stray Kids grabbed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart, powered by Twitter, for the first time, while in South Korea, they also topped the weekly album chart with their new music.

According to Billboard, Stray Kids’ “Case 143,” the main track of their new mini-album “Maxident” which came on Oct. 7, is No. 1 on the Oct. 15-dated Hot Trending Songs chart, rising from No. 2 last week.

“Stray Kids are the fourth group to top Hot Trending Songs this year, joining BLACKPINK, BTS and SB19,” according to Billboard.

Placing second and third on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart are BLACKPINK member Lisa’s “Lalisa” and “Money,” followed by Treasure’s “Hello” and BT’ “Yet To Come.”

Ranking sixth to 10th are “With You” by Ha Sung-woon and BTS’ Jimin, “Yours” by BTS’ Jin, “Slow Mo” by GOT7 member BamBam, “Who Are You” by BamBam featuring Red Velvet’s Seulgi and “Wheels Up” by BamBam featuring Mayzin.

“Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs charts “track global music-related trends and conversations in real-time across Twitter, viewable over either the last 24 hours or past seven days”.

“A weekly, 20-position version of the chart, covering activity from Friday through Thursday of each week, posts alongside Billboard’s other weekly charts on Billboard.com each Tuesday. The charts highlight buzz around new releases, award shows, festival moments, music nostalgia and more. Hot Trending Songs is unique in that it tracks what songs people are talking about, not necessarily what they’re listening to,” Billboard reported.

In addition, Stray Kids’ “Maxident” topped the weekly album chart on Korea’s Hanteo Chart.

According to Hanteo Chart, “Maxident” sold 1,490,637 copies, equivalent to 1,639,701 in physical record index, from Oct. 3 to 9 to claim the No. 1 spot for the weekly physical album chart.

Hanteo Chart ranks albums based on the physical record index, which is computed with the addition of the album price.
