NDRRMC verifying 1 death due to TD 'Maymay'; dozens evacuated
Tropical Depression (TD) "Maymay" forced dozens of individuals to evacuate due to the threat of flooding in Cagayan Valley (Region 2), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Wednesday, Oct. 12.

The NDRRMC released the first situational report on TD Maymay and it showed that at least 50 individuals or 10 families were preemptively evacuated in Brgy. Pacac, Allacapan town and Brgy. Luec, Camalaniugan town both in Cagayan province.
The first NDRRMC report on TD Maymay did not reflect the reported fatality in Cagayan.
However, Cagayan provincial disaster risk reduction and management office (PDRRMO) director Ruelie Rapsing said in a television interview that the body of a fisherman was retrieved on Tuesday and they were already verifying whether or not this was related to Maymay.
Rapsing added that another missing person who sailed into the sea despite the gale warning was reported by the local police in Sta. Ana, Cagayan and it was also being validated by the PDRRMO.
The rains brought by Maymay caused knee-deep flood in Calamaniugan and Gonzaga towns in Cagayan province, according to the NDRRMC.
The province is still reeling from the devastation of Super Typhoon Karding last month.
