Marcos tells LGUs to enforce preemptive evacuation in areas on 'Maymay' path
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. directed all local government units (LGUs) in the path of the approaching typhoon to enforce preemptive evacuations in flood-prone areas.

Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge (OIC) Undersecretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil said in a statement on Wednesday, Oct. 12, that Marcos is calling on all LGUs in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija and the extreme northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta) including Polillo Islands to "make the necessary preparations, including preemptive evacuations in flood-prone areas."
Garafil said the President "is closely monitoring" the latest weather disturbance, tropical depression Maymay, which may enter the country’s area of responsibility on Thursday, Oct. 13.
"The President is in constant communication with concerned cabinet secretaries, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which is currently pre-positioning relief goods in the form of family food packs in known evacuation centers in the areas that will be affected by TD Maymay," Garafil said.
Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and the extreme northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta) including Polillo Islands due to strong winds that may be experienced in these areas.
According to the state weather bureau, as of Wednesday morning, "Maymay" was located 310 kilometers (km) east-northeast of Baler, Aurora, or 245 km east of Casiguran.
