Manila LGU partners with Lalamove to provide job opportunities to Manileños


The city government of Manila partnered with courier service provider Lalamove to provide more job opportunities to residents of the city on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, during the Memorandum of Agreement signing, thanked Lalamove for helping Manilenos during the pandemic.

"You've given a lot of Manileños a lot of opportunity to earn, lalo na po na we're just starting again na makaangat mula sa pandemic (especially since we're just starting again to recover from the pandemic," she said.

Lacuna was also joined by Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto, Lalamove Managing Director April Dannah Majarocon, Head of Regulatory and Strategy Atty. Joy Cañeba, External Affairs Associate Joan Luzuriaga, Compliance Officer Regine Dalistan, and Secretary to the Mayor Atty. Marlon Lacson.

Lalamove Managing Director April Dannah Majarocon reiterated that the partnership aims to create more opportunities for residents of Manila to earn a living through the courier service.

"What we hope to achieve with this partnership is to able to reach more people, especially those that have not yet had the chance to grow their business or to earn livelihood through Lalamove," she said.

Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Director Fernan Bermejo also assured that applicants will have easier access to job opportunities and trainings provided by Lalamove.

According to the recent data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the number of jobless Filipinos rose in August this year.

The preliminary results of the Labor Force Survey revealed that there were 2.68 million unemployed individuals in August, higher than the 2.60 million jobless Filipinos in July.
