The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now waiting for doctor's clearance before former senator Leila de Lima is taken back to the Custodial Center at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. said de Lima was taken to the PNP General Hospital inside Camp Crame on Oct. 10 due to some medical concerns that include hypertension.
The transfer to the hospital happened a day after the escape attempt that eventually led to de Lima being held hostage by one of the three inmates.
But Azurin said the decision to take de Lima to the PNP General Hospital was part of the measures to ensure her health safety amid some medical concerns.
"Her condition remains stable but she is continuously being monitored," said Azurin.
Police earlier said that de Lima was temporarily taken to the PNP General Hospital as they were still preparing her detention facility where the former was held hostage and where her hostage-taker was shot dead.
Azurin said they also made sure that de Lima will be safe.
"She was given 24 hours security," he said.
President Bongbong Marcos, Jr. earlier offered to transfer de Lima to a safer detention facility but the former senator declined the offer and said she feels safer inside the Custodial Center where she has been detained for five years now.
