Crown Asia to supply pipes for P357-B subway

Crown Asia Chemicals Corporation reported that it will be supplying Crown Pipes for use in the P357 billion Metro Manila Subway project which will be the first underground railway in the Philippines.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Crown said its pipes that will be used in the Metro Manila Subway had been rigorously tested by the Transportation Department and consultants accredited by both proponents.

They had also conducted visited the Crown plant for inspections to observe production processes, warehouses and logistical facilities.

Crown Pipes have consistently been preferred in major infrastructure projects such as The North Railway Commuter System (NRCS), Skyway-3, MRT-7, TPLEX, CALAX, Wawa Water Resources, NAIA Expressways, MMDA CCTV, to name a few.

Attesting to Crown constancy in pursuing safety and quality, Crown Pipes are likewise used by major private developers of commercial, industrial, residential, institutional and energy projects.

Crown Pipes is carried throughout regional areas, provinces and cities across the country. The company operates two regional sales depots, in Cebu and Davao.

The 33-kilometer Metro Manila Subway line will run from Valenzuela City up to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The line will cruise through 17 hop-in hop-out stations, that are strategically located from East Valenzuela to NAIA Terminal 3, cruising through populous cities, central business districts, and major commercial establishments within Metro Manila.

It allows passengers to optimally connect to other mass transport lines such as LRT, MRT, bus terminals and National Railway System.

The subway is expected to be operational in 2027 and can accommodate more than 370,000 passengers daily. It can enormously ease Metro Manila traffic congestion and offers time savings to the commuting public to pursue productive activities.

The Metro Manila Subway is funded through the Official Development Assistance (ODA) administered by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

This mega flagship project is a joint venture of the Department of Transportation (DoTr) with Japanese and Philippine construction companies.
