Creamline starts Grand Slam bid vs PLDT Home Fibr

Creamline starts its Grand Slam bid Thursday, Oct. 13, when it squares off with PLDT Home Fibr in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Match is at 2:30 p.m. with the Cool Smashers seeking to make their title campaign felt by jumping early into the winning column.

Apart from reigning supreme in the Open and Invitational Conferences this year, Creamline remains as one of the title favorites following their impressive representation of the Philippines in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Cup last August.

The Cool Smashers finished sixth in that nine-nation tournament that the country also hosted.

Alyssa Valdez and Tots Carlos are expected to spearhead the intact lineup that also has veteran setter Jia De Guzman, Jema Galanza, Jeanette Panaga and Michele Gumabao.

Turkish import Yeliz Basa is also slated to fuel the squad following stints in the Japan V. League and Thailand League, to name a few.

PLDT, meanwhile, is expected to remain unfazed as it rides on its hard-earned 17-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-11, 15-11 victory over United Auctioneers Army last Saturday. Oct. 8.

Another win for the Power Hitters, who will be parading with Elena Samoilenko, Mika Reyes, Toni Rose Basa and Dell Palomata, would clinch them the early solo lead.

In the other pairing, F2 Logistics and Choco Mucho tangle at 5:30 p.m. with hopes of bouncing back from their respective first-game defeats last Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The Cargo Movers yielded to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22, while the Flying Titans bowed to the Petro Gazz Angels, 27-25, 25-22, 28-26.
