2GO, DOTr call to modernize PH transport

2GO Group, Inc. (2GO) echoed the call of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to modernize maritime and logistics services in the country to boost the economy and revive tourism.

“We remain committed to supporting the modernization plans of the government and all of the initiatives of the DOTr," says 2GO President and CEO Frederic C. DyBuncio.

"As evidence of this commitment, we acquired two new vessels at the height of the pandemic last year. MV 2GO Maligaya and MV 2GO Masagana are now two of the largest and fastest vessels in the Philippines,” he noted during DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista’s recent inspection at the Manila North Harbor.

Despite the pandemic, 2GO netted P109 million earnings in the second quarter and P74 million in net income for the first six months of 2022.

“Our speed is almost double that any freighter service, at 17 knots,” noted 2GO Sea Solutions Head of Sales Sharon Musngi-Ngo.

In the wake of Typhoon Odette, 2GO also supported the government's relief efforts, transporting 500 tons of essential goods port-to-port, free of charge, from Manila to Cebu, Tagbilaran, Cagayan de Oro and Ozamis.

In addition, it worked with One Meralco Foundation to transport nine basket trucks, together with Meralco’s linemen and engineers, to restore power in affected areas of Cebu and Bohol.

2GO Group, Inc. is the Philippines’ largest integrated transportation and logistics provider.

Its core business units include 2GO Sea Solutions, 2GO Special Containers, 2GO Logistics, 2GO Express, and 2GO Distribution.

2GO is a subsidiary of SM Investments Corporation, one of the largest conglomerates in the country.

It offers multimodal transportation, warehousing and inventory management, distribution, special containers, and project logistics as well as e-commerce logistics, including last-mile deliveries, and express courier deliveries.

2GO also provides sea travel, and peripheral logistics, such as freight forwarding, import and export processing, and customs brokerage.
