Seven of 21 ECCs issued for Manila Bay reclamation project bared

Only seven of the 21 Environmental Compliance Certificates (ECCs) issued for the Manila Bay reclamation project were named.

This after Senator Cynthia A. Villar blew her top when the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) admitted that it issued 21 ECCs from 2019 to 2021.

The identification of the other ECCs was stopped when Villar alleged that money changed hands for the issuance of the ECCs.

Villar said she was warned by former Department of Public Works Secretary Rogelio ‘’Babes’’ Singson that Las Pinas city and other neighboring coastal towns of Cavite would experience flooding of from six to eight meters if there is a reclamation project facing these municipalities.

The Villars reside in Las Pinas.

The seven ECCs were issued to New Manila Reclamation Project (407.42 hectares) issued by the City of Manila on March 13, 2019; Manila City Waterfront Project (318 hectares) - ECC was issued on July 18, 2018; Horizon Manila Reclamation project (419 hectares); Manila Gold Coast (18 hectares); Pasay Harbor Reclamation project (366 hectares); Manila Bay Reclamation project ( 844 hectares along the coastal road) .
