Rider caught with P4 million worth of shabu, two guns at random Capiz checkpoint

ILOILO CITY -- A rider who disregarded a random checkpoint in Pontevedra town, Capiz province was apprehended as police found more than P4 million worth of shabu in his possession on Monday evening, Oct. 10.

The suspect identified as Roberto Dela Cruz tried to disregard a checkpoint in Bailan village but cops under the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station and the 3rd Maneuver Platoon of the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company were prompted to chase his motorcycle.
As it turned out, the suspect was carrying shabu worth P4 million which the police confiscated.
The police also found two guns and ammunition from Cruz, a 59-year-old butcher from the provincial capital of Roxas City.
“This is a big accomplishment in eradicating the social menace of illegal drugs,” said Brigadier Leo Francisco, director of Police Regional Office (PRO-6).
Francisco also commended the two police units for chasing the drug suspect.
Dela Cruz will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
