Malabon LGU, DSWD hold orientation for 2,000 cash-for-work beneficiaries

A total of 2,000 beneficiaries of the Deparment of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Cash-For-Work (CWF) program in Malabon City underwent orientation at the Oreta Sports Complex in Malabon City on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The orientation for the CWF program was conducted by the Malabon City government, the DSWD, and the City Social Welfare And Development Department (CSWDD).

The local government said the CWF beneficiaries will work for 10 days from Oct. 11 to 24.

Cash-For-Work is a program of the national government that aims to provide temporary employment to jobless residents through the DSWD's Risk Resiliency Program-Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Disaster Risk Reduction (RRP-CCAM DRR).

Among the temporary jobs available are communal gardening, tree planting, reforestation, coastal clean-up, pit drainage repair, and other climate and disaster mitigation and preparedness activities.

The city government also said it has been conducting simultaneous distribution of livelihood assistance and financial aid to help the residents recover from the challenges brought by the recent calamities and the pandemic.

RRP-CCAM-DRR is a program of the DSWD that seeks to cultivate awareness and empower Filipino resiliency on both natural and urban built hazards.

It aims to reinforce the adaptive capacities, particularly of vulnerable communities in the country.
