Malabon LGU, DSHUD ink MOU on PBBM’s housing program

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar on Monday, Oct. 10, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the implementation of the “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino” program of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in the city at the Oreta Sports Complex.

“Ito pong pabahay na ito, ang programa pong ito, lahat po ng minimum wage (earners) makakabili ng bahay. Nung araw po, kahit na nagtratrabaho ka, ang sweldo mo P20,000, hindi ka makakabili ng bahay. Pero dito po, ang minimum wage (earners) makakabili kayo ng bahay, in-city. Wala na pong relocation site sa labas ng siyudad.(This housing program will ensure that even minimum wage earners will be able to buy a house of their own. It used to be that even if you were working with a salary of P20,000, you could not buy a house. But under this program, minimum wage earners can buy a house, in-city. There will be no more relocation site outside the city),” Acuzar said.

He added that the beneficiaries of the program also include informal settler families (ISF) in the country.

“The city government of Malabon is one with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development in ensuring that underprivileged and homeless citizens have access to adequate, safe, secure, habitable, sustainable, resilient, and affordable homes,” Sandoval said.

“Lahat po tayo magkakaroon na po ng bahay. Pagtutulungan po nating lahat ‘yan. ‘Yan po ang aking adbokasiya nung nagsisimula pa lang ako, ang pabahay at palupa para sa lahat ng taga-Malabon (We will all have homes. Let's all work together. This has been my advocacy when I was just starting, housing and land for all the people of Malabon),” the mayor added

According to the city government, around 37 housing units in Barangay Panghulo were already awarded to Malabonian families last Friday, Oct. 7.

There are also 1,300 housing units to be awarded to families in the coming days.

There were also 42 certificates of land allocation (CELA) on Labahita Street, Brgy. Longos given to members of the Naglakar Homeowners Association on Oct. 10.

Sandoval said they have crafted executive orders that will create the Malabon Housing Development Coordinating Committee and Local Housing Board to institutionalize housing programs in the city.

Present during the signing of the MOU were DSHUD Undersecretary Garry De Guzman, City Administrator Alexander Rosete, and former City Congressman Ricky Sandoval.

The Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino is a program of President Marcos Jr. that aims to provide 6,000,000 housing units to Filipinos in six years or 1,000,000 housing units per year.
