DOT's Frasco is PeopleAsia's 2022 'Women of Style and Substance'
Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco has been recognized as a "Woman of Style and Substance" by the prestigious lifestyle award body Stargate PeopleAsia on Monday, Oct. 10.
Frasco was acknowledged for her extensive work in local governance and her efforts to lead the recovery of the Philippine tourism industry.

In her acceptance speech, Frasco also honored PeopleAsia as one of the famous award bodies that give credit to Filipinos who excelled in their respective genre.
"As you honor tonight's women of style and substance, I, too, honor you for the work that you have been doing in these many years, highlighting the best part about the Philippines: the Filipino people," said Frasco addressed to PeopleAsia.
In the event, Frasco revealed the "institutionalization of necessary changes to the tourism industry to strengthen it for its full recovery" within 100 days of Marcos Jr.'s administration.
This includes the very first Philippine Tourism Job Fairs, which offered over 8,000 tourism jobs; and the recent groundbreaking of the first four tourist rest areas (TRA) in Bukidnon and Samal Island in Mindanao and in the municipalities of Carmen and Medellin in Cebu, which will provide clean restrooms, tourist information centers, and 'pasalubong' centers.
The tourism chief also announced that the country exceeded the 1.7 million target for December 2022, with international arrivals having breached 1.7 million as of October 10 this year.
"The Philippines is on its way to a full recovery and we will build back stronger," Frasco celebrated.
Frasco is a three-term Mayor of Liloan, Cebu, the wife of Deputy Speaker Duke Frasco, and the daughter of Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia.
"We've engaged in listening tours in all our 16 regions, engaged in Philippine Economic Briefings outside the Philippines, conveying as much as possible to the world that the Philippines is open, the Philippines is ready not only take back its pre-pandemic position but to take a primary position in the world because that is the birthright of every Filipino," she added.
Joining this year's list of Stargate PeopleAsia are including Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi, Senator Risa Hontiveros, Deputy Minority Leader Rep.
