DOLE payouts P20.8M to 5,580 TUPAD beneficiaries in Isabela
A total of 5,580 displaced workers in Isabela have benefited from the emergency employment program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
According to DOLE Isabela Field Office (IFO), the payout of salary for Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries totaled to P20.8 million.

The disbursement of salaries was distributed on October 3 to 7 in seven municipalities: Tumauini with 225 beneficiaries; San Pablo (411); Angadanan (970); Echague (1,650); Cauayan City (1,224); San Guillermo (700), and San Isidro with 400 beneficiaries.
The TUPAD beneficiaries rendered days of community work through clean-up and beautification of public facilities in their respective barangays.
DOLE RO2 Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales said the continuing assistance of DOLE to vulnerable and distressed workers aligned with Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma's adherence to uplifting the difficulties of workers.
Gonzales noted that emergency employment through TUPAD has expanded to include those affected by calamities and other disasters in recent years.
"The assistance of TUPAD has been visible in the Cagayan Valley Region since its inception. Beneficiaries working in green have been filling the streets in recent years, working in and around the region to do community work, especially during calamities," said Gonzalez.
The TUPAD platform is one of the DOLE's flagship programs that provide temporary employment to informal sector workers and vulnerable workers affected by natural or manmade calamities.
Under the TUPAD program, beneficiaries are entitled to receive a salary of P3,400 to P5,100 depending on the length of service. Workers are employed for 10 days up to 30 days.
