'Come, discover Japan,' envoy urges Filipinos

Japan's envoy to the Philippines has encouraged Filipinos to visit the Land of the Rising Sun as it relaxed its borders amid pandemic.

In a video message on Tuesday, Ambassador Koshikawa Kazuhiko said individual and group travels to Japan can now be enjoyed as the Covid-19 situation in the country improved.

"As the autumn approaches, we invite you to Japan and experience the best of the season," Kazuhiko said.

"Come and discover the many charms of Japan," he added.

His video message came after the Japanese government lifted on the same day the suspension on the validity of multiple-entry visas, which was imposed in March 2020 at the height of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, those who obtained their visa during the period when the suspension was in effect need to submit a new visa application due to the Japanese government’s visa policy.

"For visa requirements, we will resume our regular process from October 11, 2022, including non-packaged tour (individual tourism), business visa, and APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC)," the Japanese Embassy in Manila said in a statement on October 3.

"Also, we will no longer request ERSF Certificate, which accepting organizations in Japan such as companies, ministries, and travel agencies are required to obtain for you, for the trip from October 11," it added.
