ILOILO CITY – The University of San Agustin (USA) here recently launched its first e-commerce portal USA-eMerch through the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO).

“The USA-eMech was envisioned in 2019 when there was a need to commercialize USA’s intellectual property,” said ITSO Associate Gordon Guillergan.
According to Guillergan, the portal was conceived after USA was granted a trademark registration in 2018 that paved way to commercialize any intellectual property.
Guillergan said that he pitched the idea to ITSO Director Dr. Assem el Baghdady who is based in the United Kingdom.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, ITSO still pursued the project by going online.
The USA-eMerch initially had 17 manuals from the Medical Laboratory Science which is the pilot program of ITSO for its commercialization project.
Once purchased, the digital formats for the manuals in Pharmacy and Biology programs can be used with a specialized license.
“This specialize license for the purchaser can lower the number of infringement incidents. It can also track the source of infringement in the University,” Guillergan said.
Students, faculty, and alumni can purchase the manuals, books, and merchandise by using e-wallets GCash, PayMaya, or GrabPay. All online merchandise can be picked up at the University of San Agustin Bookstore.
