Marcos was in Malacañang Monday morning, Oct. 10 to witness the signing into law of Republic Act (RA) No. 11934, or the SIM Registration Act.

"Thank you to our President for signing the SIM Card registration act into law! Hoping this will be of help to our kababayans! This is also my first bill that’s been signed into law so definitely a special one!" Marcos said in a Facebook post.

SIM stands for subscriber identity module.

The neophyte lawmaker filed House Bill (HB) No.14 or the SIM Card Registration Bill early in the 19th Congress.

The main selling point of the measure has been its being the solution to the problem of text scams, which has gotten out of hand since since last year.

"So hopefully this will curb the increase and the frequency of all those texts that we’ve been getting and it will be a welcome addition to the security of our kababayan’s personal information, hopefully with the passage of this law will be better protected," Marcos said during a chance interview with reporters in Malacañang.
