SARIAYA, Quezon – House Deputy Majority Leader Quezon Rep. David C. Suarez has proposed to the Department of Agriculture (DA) the creation of the National Water Use Plan to complement the National Farm-to-Market Road Map.
Suarez said the National Water Use Plan will ensure that farmers have access to water and irrigation to improve their productivity.
The lawmaker led the caravan distribution of DA interventions and Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) over the weekend to farmers’ groups from Sariaya, Candelaria, Tiaong, San Antonio, Dolores, and Lucena City.
Suarez and the DA-Regional Field Office 4-A facilitated the program for farmers growing vegetables, corn, high-value crops, and fruit-bearing trees.
He made the proposal as vice chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture.
Suarez and his wife, Alona party-list Rep. Anna V. Suarez, are vice-chairpersons of the House Committee on Appropriations and they defended DA budget during deliberations at the House of Representatives.
The National Farm-to-Market Road Map seeks to promote food security and empower rural communities.
