Police report 7,901 assorted firearms in Bacolod, Negros Occ. have expired licenses
BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas reported that licenses for a total of 7,901 assorted firearms here and in Negros Occidental were not renewed.

The number was based on the data provided by the Firearms and Explosive Office (FEO) in Camp Crame.
In an effort to reduce the figure, the local police conducted a series of License To Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF) caravan to give gun holders the convenience to process the renewal of their firearm licenses without going to PRO-Western Visayas in Iloilo City.
The recent caravan was held at SM City Bacolod on Oct. 6 and Oct. 7, wherein 302 gun holders here and in neighboring cities renewed their firearm licenses, based on the record from the Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU)-6.
The caravan here was held following the request of Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairman of the Committee on Peace and Order on Aug. 31.
With the services provided, the Bacolod City police hoped that gun owners would have produced all the necessary documents for them to become licensed and legitimate owners, stressing that the privilege of possessing a firearm comes with a huge responsibility.
Last month, at least 200 gun owners and enthusiasts here and in the third district of the province also joined the same caravan in E.B. Magalona town.
