Lyceum hopes to end things in the first round on a bright note as it takes on Arellano on Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the NCAA Season 98 men's basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

The Pirates, holding a 6-2 record, are out to get a firm grip of the solo second spot in their 3 p.m. encounter as the league, in a notice dated Oct. 9, released an updated schedule "due to unforeseen circumstances."
The initial 12 p.m. clash against the streaking Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers and the embattled San Sebastian Stags was moved to Oct. 16 at 3 p.m., just a day after the All-Star game.
Lyceum banks on its recent win against San Sebastian after eking out an 82-79 win in a nail-biting overtime showdown last Oct. 9.
Consistent production from Mcclaude Guadana, Renzo Navarro, JM Bravo, and Alvin Penafiel is expected for the Pirates while the likes of Enoch Valdez and Shawn Umali take up their responsibilities inside the paint.
"They are a strong team. All of the teams are strong. Pantay-pantay sila lahat. And we're gonna treat Arellano as the contender," said Lyceum head coach Gilbert Malabanan. "We're gonna play our way, we're gonna play our system. We're gonna play how we play the game.
"And number one is we're playing because want to inspire people, and that's number one na culture namin. I'm happy na marami kaming nai-inspire na tao and hopefully magtuloy-tuloy pa 'tong ginagawa namin."
Against a Cholo Martin-coached Chiefs, Malabanan said "respect" will be given to the game come Tuesday.
"I respect coach Cholo. He's a veteran coach. He's just like me, kung baga aggressive din siya when it comes to coaching. Talagang vocal talaga siya," he added.
The Chiefs, for their part, seek a much-needed bounce-back win after absorbing a tough 96-61 drubbing at the hands of the Red Lions.
The trio of Shane Menina, Axel Doromal, and Cade Flores are set to lead Arellano, which owns a 4-4 slate, anew in the hopes of finishing the first round on a high note as well.
