Parañaque Mayor Olivarez delivers report on his first 100 days in office
Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez delivered his accomplishment report about his first 100 days in office on Monday, Oct. 10.
Olivarez recalled that during his first day of work as the city chief executive, he held a meeting with different department heads to determine their duties and responsibilities in his administration.
Since his main focus is economic recovery, Olivarez said his administration initiated moves to encourage more business owners to open in the city and provide jobs to residents, particularly those that were badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The mayor thanked the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) headed by lawyer Melanie Soriano Mallaya for its hard works that led to the opening of more businesses in the city.
Olivarez said that from July to Sept. 2021, only 473 businesses opted to operate in the city. But this year, the number has risen to 578, or an increase of 17 percent.
He attributed the increase to the opening of Expess Lingkod Office at Ayala Malls, which allowed business owners to easily apply and process their documents.
Olivarez also proudly announced that the city government’s business tax collection has also increased without implementing tax increase.
