The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) and Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) officially launched the College of Medicine on Oct. 10.
The PLMun-OsMun College of Medicine is the first medical school in Muntinlupa. PLMun and OsMun are both city-run.

Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon, Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac, PLMun President Dr. Raymund Arcega, OsMun Medical director Dr. Edwin Dimatatac, City Administrator Allan Cachuela and councilors unveiled the seal of the College of Medicine during the flag-raising ceremony at the Muntinlupa City hall quadrangle.
According to PLMun, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) approved Resolution No. 464-2022 dated Sept. 12 the request of PLMun and OsMun for the issuance of a government permit to operate the first and second year Levels of the Doctor of Medicine Program effective academic year 2022-2023.
“Sana po ito ay magdulot ng bagong pag-asa sa public health service dito sa Lungsod ng Muntinlupa. Makapag-produce tayo ng medical professionals na hindi lamang tutulong sa ating lungsod kundi sa buong bansa (I hope that this will result in new hope in public health service here in the City of Muntinlupa. We can produce medical professionals who will not only help in our city but in the whole country),” said Biazon.
Arcega cited the achievements of PLMun in board exams. He said a month ago, the PLMun landed in the Top 7 in Bachelor Science in Criminology with 256 board passers.
“All over the country, the PLMun was adjudged to be one of the highest producers of criminology,” he said.
PLMun, he said, received P48 million in subsidy from CHED “in recognition of what we did well as an institution.”
Arcega also said PLMun was approved to offer degree courses in social work, public administration and nursing.
