Insurance veteran Rahul Hora took the helm at Manulife Philippines as president and chief executive officer (CEO).
Sachin N. Shah, Manulife Emerging Markets general manager, said that Hora has been appointed as the head of its unit in the Philippines effective last Oct. 3.
Hora, with his extensive experience in the Philippines and across Asia, will also be a member of Manulife’s Global Leadership Team.
“We are pleased and excited to have Rahul join us to lead our next phase of growth in the Philippines, a key Southeast Asian market where we’ve been for 115 years,” Shah said in a statement.
“Rahul’s track record of leadership and wealth of experience strengthens our execution and will accelerate helping more Filipinos live every day better,” he added.
For his part, Hora said he is excited to start a new chapter with Manulife.
“I am proud to join at a point where we are taking our business to new heights, serving Filipinos’ health, protection, retirement, and financial needs, and maintaining a strong commitment to developing innovative financial products and solutions,” Hora said.
Hora had served as senior vice president of one of India’s most recognized insurance companies, where he held various sales and distribution leadership positions across geographies.
He then joined multinational insurer AXA, where he held distribution roles at market and regional levels, and most recently led their life and non-life insurance operations in the Philippines.
In his most recent CEO role, Hora delivered solid financial results by driving distribution acceleration, health and wellness, digital enablement, and enhanced customer experience.
He also oversaw a successful post-acquisition merger of a general insurance entity with an existing life insurance business to help create one of the most competitive composite insurance players in the Philippines.
