In the videos posted on the official Facebook page of DepED Philippines, the agency noted that among the major accomplishments of Duterte as Education Chief is the successful re-opening of face-to-face classes on Aug. 22.
Under Duterte’s leadership, DepED said that the other challenges faced by the education sector are also being addressed.
In a separate video, Duterte also highlighted the “Top 4” contributions of the DepEd to the First 100 Days of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
Duterte said that the DepED, under the leadership of Marcos, remains committed to the goal for all Filipinos to “realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to a cohesive nation through the protection and promotion of the right to education.”
She stressed that when it comes to the implementation of in-person classes, DepEd is “continuing to assess the institutionalization of blended learning and online classes in basic education.”
Duterte explained said the new administration was able to “sustain the review of the K to Grade 10 program from the previous administration and is set to start reviews for Grades 11 and 12” in line with its aim to improve the quality of education.
The Marcos administration, Duterte said, is also focusing on the welfare of teachers with approval from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for the creation of 5,000 administrative personnel positions for next year.
Duterte also noted that the Marcos administration guaranteed that teachers “will receive the final tranche of the salary increase” next year as provided for in Republic Act 11466.
Among those that Duterte highlighted in her first 100 days in office are the efforts of the agency to prioritize the four pillars of the DepED’s Basic Education Program (BEDP) 2030 which include access, equity, quality, and governance.
Cognizant of the value of continuity of government programs, Duterte said that the Marcos administration adopted the BEDP 2020 which was developed under the administration of former Education Secretary Leonor Briones.
The BEDP 2030, Duterte explained, was designed to “address the immediate impacts of the pandemic on learning participation, and education delivery, address the remaining access gaps, improve education quality and build resilience.”
