SSS to open calamity loan, advance pension for 'Karding' victims

A Calamity Loan Assistance Program (CLAP) and Three-Month Advance Pension will be opened for members and pensioners affected by typhoon Karding, the Social Security System (SSS) announced.

These will be open for SSS members and pensioners residing in areas declared under a state of calamity by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, said SSS President and CEO Michael Regino in a statement last Sept. 28.

Regino added that the initiative is "in response to the devastation brought about by Super Typhoon Karding."

Under CLAP, the state-run pension fund said that "members may avail of a loan equivalent to the average of their last 12 monthly salary credit or the amount they applied for, whichever is lower."

Meanwhile, the amount that can be availed from the Three-Month Advance Pension will be based on how much the pensioner gets every month.

"We are finalizing the guidelines for these programs, and we shall release them through our website and social media channels once available," Regino said.

The application for CLAP will be done via My.SSS Portal so interested applicants were advised to enroll their account at the online portal.
