Lucky shoes or lucky ring? Robert Bolick still in awe with career game

Was it the shoes or the ring? Whatever Robert Bolick had worn during NorthPort’s 20-point comeback against Meralco could have given him more than just luck after dropping a career-high 44 points.

The NorthPort star was still in awe and clueless on how he completed such feat, more so pulling off a 22-point barrage in the final frame and in the overtime period to come away with a 101-95 win. He even credited it to the wedding ring he had worn the past two games and his shoes during the massive explosion.

“Feeling ko swerte rin yung wedding ring ko eh two games na sinuot ko parang ang sarap sa feeling nanonood ‘yung asawa mo tas ang galing ng laro mo at least proud ako na married man ako,” said Bolick.

Turning more serious though, Bolick was glad to get the win especially after failing to do the same the last time out when NorthPort couldn’t complete its comeback against Bay Area after Myles Powell drilled the game-winning trey at the buzzer.

“Di ko alam sa sapatos din, college palang ako sila na ‘yung nagtiwala sa akin,” said the high-scoring guard who has been under the Under Armour brand.

More than the lucky charms though, Bolick showed heart and grit especially in the end game where he willed NorthPort back epitomized by the play when he fought for the loose ball and went the length of the floor to score a layup then suddenly going down with a case of cramps moments after.

In the next possession, he still drove hard against and scored two points over Meralco import Johnny O’Bryant before drilling two pressure-packed free throws to force an extra period.

He also credited the rest of the team especially the coaches for giving him the confidence to just take his shots.
