Police seize over P260,000 shabu, arrest 18 suspects in QC buy-busts

Operatives of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested 18 drug suspects and seized a total of P265,608 worth of 'shabu' in six buy-bust operations in the city on Saturday, Oct. 8, and Sunday, Oct. 9.

QCPD Novaliches Station (PS 4) Chief Lt. Col. Von June Nuyda said the two suspects, identified as Joel Jarito Carmelo, 46, and Edward Juarez Anoñuevo Cabrera, 47, both from Novaliches, Quezon City, were collared on Magsaysay Exit, Esmak 3 Doña Faustina in Brgy. San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City at about 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8.

PS 4 members, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), conducted a buy-bust operation after receiving a report from an informant about the illegal drug activities of the suspects.

Confiscated from the suspects were more or less 15 grams of 'shabu' worth P102,000, a cellular phone, a black coin purse, and the buy-bust money.

Another buy-bust operation was conducted by QCPD Project 4 Station (PS 8) officers where four suspects were arrested.

Police identified the suspects as Dennis Romolo, 44, a resident of Brgy. San Martin, Cubao, Quezon City; Sarah Jane Eusebio, 33, a resident of Brgy. Kaunlaran, Quezon City; John Andy Miranda, 30, of Brgy. Rivera, Pasay City; and Roldan Santiago, 39, a resident of Brgy. Santos, Balagtas, Bulacan.

The suspects were arrested along Magat Salamat St. in Brgy. Bagumbuhay, Project 4, Quezon City at around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Police recovered more or less one gram of 'shabu' worth P6,800 and the buy-bust money.

In a separate buy-bust operation conducted by QCPD Anonas Station (PS 9), two suspects were arrested at a parking lot at Jollibee Philcoa, Commonwealth Avenue in Brgy. San Vicente, Quezon City at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

PS 9 officers identified the suspects as John Christopher Peñamayor, 32, a resident of Brgy. Batasan, Quezon City, and Robert Tobilla, 34, a resident of Brgy. Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.

Seized from the suspects were more or less 9.06 grams of 'shabu' worth P61,608, a cellular phone, a black coin purse, one unit of Yamaha Mio, and the buy-bust money.

Meanwhile, QCPD Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13) also conducted a buy-bust operation at San Miguel Extn. in Brgy. Payatas A, Quezon City, at about 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.

It led to the arrest of two suspects, identified as Jonas Navalta Bayking, 32, and Agusto Brioso Carizo, 24, both residents of Brgy. Payatas A. Quezon City.

Police confiscated more or less two grams of 'shabu' valued at P13,600, one coin purse, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money.

Members of the QCPD Pasong Putik Police Station (PS 16) arrested two more suspects in a buy-bust operation along King Fisher St., Brgy. Kaligayahan, Quezon City at about 10:55 p.m. on Saturday.

PS 16 officers identified the suspects as Romeo Paynor, 45, and Louie Marasigan, 30, both residents of Brgy. Sta. Monica, Novaliches, Quezon City

Seized from the suspects were more or less four grams of shabu valued at P27,200, a cellular phone, one gray sling bag, one tricycle, and the buy-bust money.

QCPD Holy Spirit Police Station (PS 14) also nabbed six suspects - Ma. Gay Jakosalem, 43, resident of Malate, Manila; Alexis Almis, 31; Junie Alayon, 39, both residents of Brgy. Old Balara, Quezon City; Michael Atienza, 42 and Jhoffry Bernardo, 27, both residents of Brgy. Culiat, Quezon City, and Percival Caimoy, 39, resident of Brgy. Vasra, Quezon City - in a buy-bust operation conducted along Luzon Avenue, Congressional Road, Brgy. Culiat, Quezon City at about 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Confiscated from the suspects were more or less eight grams of 'shabu' worth P54,400 and the buy-bust money.

All the suspects arrested in the six buy-bust operations will be charged for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said.
