Percy Lapid laid to rest in Paranaque City

Hard-hitting broadcast journalist Percival “Percy Lapid” Mabasa was interred at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Lapid’s family, relatives, and supporters witnessed his burial.

Southern Police District (SPD) director Col. Kirby John Brion Kraft said police identified one of the persons of interest released by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) last Friday through scientific investigation.

Kraft said they were able to identify the gun used by the killers, a .45 caliber pistol, based on the slugs and empty shells recovered at the crime scene.

He also said that according to the initial report of the SPD Forensic Unit that conducted digital forensic test on the cellular phone of Percy Lapid, no incriminating messages were found that would lead to the killing.

The SPD chief said they will invite owners of vehicles caught by the dashboard camera of Percy Lapid when he was gunned down near his house in Las Pinas City on Oct. 3 to get their statements to help speed up the case.
