Marcos said this after she was held hostage by three high-risk inmates who attempted to escape from the Custodial Center of the Philippine National Police (PNP) at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

In a tweet, Marcos said he would personally check on De Lima's condition and ask her if she was still okay in her present cell.

"Following this morning's incident at Camp Crame, I will be speaking to Senator De Lima to check on her condition and to ask if she wishes to be transferred to another detention center," he said.

Meanwhile, Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) officer-in-charge Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil said President Marcos has directed Camp Crame to ensure that no act of violence in all PNP detention centers shall happen again.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the suspects as Arnel Cabintoy, Idang Susukan, and Feliciano Sulayao Jr.

A report obtained by the Manila Bulletin showed that the three suspects, who were eventually neutralized, used an improvised knife to stab a certain Police Corporal Agustin who was distributing the food ration at around 6:30 a.m.

A certain Patrolman Matias witnessed the incident and warned the three inmates to let go of his buddy, but the three inmates continued stabbing Agutin. This prompted Matias to open fire, hitting Cabintoy and Susukan.

Sulayao managed to run away and proceeded to the detention facility of De Lima, whom he held hostage.

"Members of the Special Action Force immediately responded to the incident and negotiated with Sulayao but to no avail. Since the situation is escalating, the tactical team engaged Sulayao, and he was neutralized," said Police Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, chief of the PNP Public Information Office.

The incident ended at 7:18 a.m. The PNP also declared De Lima safe.
