Fans have not been seeing much of the talented actor and singer Alex Castro onscreen. But that's because he's being kept busy in his biggest role as the newly-elected Vice Governor of Bulacan.

On the day we interviewed him, Alex was on top of rehabilitation efforts in Bulacan for typhoon Karding, where five rescuers also perished.

In between many meetings, he found time to cut the ribbon for the opening of Furniture Deals store in Sta. Maria town which has a big showcase of beds, sofas, cabinets and other essentials for the modern home.

The vice governor lauded young entrepreneur Al Navarro for choosing to invest in Bulacan.

"Bulacan is the gateway to the North and we welcome all investors. We're really happy when businesses like Furniture Deals choose to locate here because this means more chances for local residents to be employed," he noted.

Vice Gov. Alex Castro was the special guest during the opening of Furniture Deals store in Sta. Maria, Bulacan. Flanking him are young businessman Al Navarro and his mother Alice.

He said there will be more opportunities as the New Manila International Airport opens in Bulakan, Bulacan in a few years' time.

"The international airport is our biggest project now. This is the reason why coming back to showbiz is not a priority for me. I must do my duties first as a public servant," declared Alex, who started his political career as SK president in their barangay in Marilao before becoming a municipal councilor and then a provincial board member.

"What many people don't know is that I've been in public service for 20 years now. But I will always go back to showbiz whenever I want to unleash the artist in me. I can still do mall shows but not teleseryes as they require a month or two of lock-in taping. I can't sleep if I am away from my wife even for a few days" the 37-year politico candidly stated.

Alex is happily married to his sweetheart of seven years, the former Sexbomb dancer Sunshine Garcia. They have two children aged four and one.

"Si Sunshine dahil alam nyang busy na talaga ako, naka-focus sya sa pagiging nanay. Maybe this is how women are also, their priorities change over time, " he remarked.

The vice governor revealed that there are sometimes requests for his wife to dance or perform in local shows and he just allows her.

"I've known her as a dancer even before we met and I don't want to change whatever she likes. I told her we must enjoy anything we do in life because if not, then life isn't worth living," he stated.
