3 nabbed for selling stolen telecom items in Marikina City

Operatives of the Eastern Police District (EPD) arrested three individuals for selling P271,212 worth of stolen telecommunication items in an entrapment operation on Friday morning, Oct. 7, at SSS Village in Concepcion Dos, Marikina City.

The report from EPD-Intelligence Division, submitted to EPD Director Col. Wilson Asueta, identified the suspects as “Eric”, 53, an online seller; “Jen”, 55, and “Mic”, 32, a freelance rider. The report provided only aliases of the suspects.

According to the police’s initial investigation, a complainant from a major telecommunication company reported the unauthorized sale and possession of exclusive products from a seller who was unaffiliated with their company.

The products were offered only to their clients who applied for their internet subscription.

During the entrapment operation, the police found the suspects also sold exclusive products from other various telecommunication companies that were meant for brand subscribers only.

The police confiscated a total of P217,212 worth of stolen goods.

These include 18 boxes of Fiber drop cables (P43,200), a 2,000 meter, 12-core fiber optic cable (P24,000); a 2,000 meter, six-core fiber optic cable (P22,000); 41 Access Termination Boxes (ATB) (P902), a box of Fiber Access Terminal (FAT) (P174), 15 Distribution Point (DP) boxes (P67,500), four pieces of slick closure (P8,000), 42 pieces of small pack splitters (P17,220), 67 pieces of big pack splitters (P27,470), four pieces of modem (P16,000), nine packs or 100 pieces of Fiber suppliers (P9,000), nine packs of Power-line communication (PLC) splitters (P3,690), 12 pieces of Field Installable Connector (FIC) (P900), four pieces of Small Form-factor Pluggable (P16,000), 53 pieces of patch cord (P8,056), and one piece of optical distribution frame (ODF) (P8,000).

The recovered evidence was brought to the Detective Special Operations Unit (DSOU) of the EPD.

The suspects were taken to the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center for medical examination, and were later transferred to the custodial facility of the Marikina City Police Station (CPS).

Charges in violation of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1612 or the “Anti-Fencing Law” are being filed before the Marikina City Prosecutor’s Office.
