The Navotas City government held the groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of four new public school buildings in the city on Friday, Oct. 7.
Four-story buildings with eight classrooms will be constructed in three public schools including San Roque Elementary School, San Rafael Village Elementary School, and Kaunlaran High School.
Meanwhile, a four-story building with 12 classrooms will be built in Dagat-dagatan Elementary School.
In September, the city government also started the construction of four-story buildings in three other public schools.
Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco aims to speed up the completion of public school buildings due to the resumption of face-to-face classes.
"Education has always been our priority. As much as possible, we want to avoid classrooms getting overcrowded with the influx of students and to minimize shifting classes," Mayor Tiangco said.
"We hope to provide a conducive learning environment for students in Navotas to ensure that they would get the highest quality of education we can deliver," he added.
The city government had already inaugurated 11 school buildings with a total of 128 classrooms last March.
It said two more schools are expected to hold groundbreaking ceremonies this year.
