Muntinlupa City now has its first medical school.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon announced that the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun)-Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) College of Medicine is now accepting applicants for the Doctor of Medicine Program. Classes will start on Oct. 10.
PLMun and OsMun are both city-run.
“Mag-enroll na sa kauna-unahang medical school sa Muntinlupa! Experienced at mahuhusay ang faculty members mula sa iba't ibang medical school sa bansa gaya ng University of the Philippines, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, atbp. (Enroll in the first ever medical school in Muntinlupa! It has experienced and great faculty members from different medical schools in the country like the University of the Philippines, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa etc),” the mayor said.
Biazon also touted that the PLMun-OsMun College of Medicine is one of the medical schools in the country that has the most affordable tuition. There are also scholarships available through the city’s Muntinlupa Scholarship Division.
Applicants need to submit their transcript of records of a four-year bachelor’s degree and result of their National Medical Admission Test (NMAT), which is used in selecting students to medical schools in the country, taken within two years from the date of application.
They also need to fill out an application form.
In November last year, the Muntinlupa City Council passed an ordinance creating the College of Medicine and Advanced Sciences of the Ospital ng Muntinlupa as a local economic enterprise.
The ordinance stated that it “will operate as configured with the Universal Health Care Law at the outset with the goal of molding students abreast with the existing government healthcare system that will eventually become public health servants and managers with commitment in government service.”
